It's over, Acid House of the week is dead. Murphy Jax wins acid house tune of 2011 and I hope he gets loads of good Karma from his music as it is fucking awesome.
This week its Chicago Shag taking the honors. To tired to joke around other than to ask, What doe's a man with a two foot penis have for breakfast? Well this morning i had a piece of toast and a cup of coffee.
Have to say there is a lot of shit Electro / Electro House being labeled and tagged as Acid House at the moment. This is clearly an attempt to try and repackage an old sound that has had it's day. Think i am over reacting? Well the other day i got on the bus with a large triple shot Latte and accidentally spilt it all over A small asian cleaning lady. The whole bus gasped, her skin audibly crackling, she lay on her seat slightly convulsing and looked up at me with her minimum wage eyes and she whispered quietly and in great pain "Dude... that was so electro house!'
Below is a blurb taken from the Kompakt.fm website. My two fave's here are 'Stems From Hell' and 'Destination:Education'. Personally i used to find his music over produced and lifeless (07-08) my tastes just didn't enjoy his music very much at all back then. However Lately in the past year or so he has become a completely different Sanchez (Sanchez is the name i am using to replace the word 'Dude' in my vocabulary.) His music has soul and imagination along with that crazy production, check it out... Sanchez.
Gui Boratto is truly that success story that aspiring dance producers
dream of. From his Brazilian home of São Paolo as a student of
architecture and design, he quickly found himself in the position as one
of the countries primary pop/rock producers (including work for Steel
Pulse). It was with his 2005 debut Kompakt release on the K2 sub-label
"Arquipélago" that shot him into prominence and paved a strong path of
singles that led to the now classic full length "Chromophobia". The lead
singles "Mr. Decay" and "Beautiful Life" remain two of the most
unforgettable tracks in Kompakt history - the latter official video with
well over a million views on YouTube. It was his sophomore album, the
2009 breakthrough, "Take My Breath Away" which evolved him as a dance
producer further into a realm of his own right as one of Brazil's most
established musicians.
Joe Goddard is one half of 'Hot Chip' the half i am proud to say i supported at a gig at the Greenwood Hotel once. Bit of a highlight i must say, if your wondering which one he is, he is the big fluffy one that does not sing. Want to know more?

Good stuff here. Sorry i havent been blogging more but my stupid MAC blew up. Wish we had a third option other than PC or MAC.
Now as for Roman Flugel his 'Gets Noch'from a couple of years ago was quite the anthem during the Electro house years but i gotta say, i never got it. BUt now he has blown up into this guy who has great sounds, production and beats that make you wanna dance. HIs past eight tunes have been killer. So he deserves this award clearly.
Mini Mode, alias Lorenzo Fabiano, was born in Florence in 1983. From the age of 14 he began to take his first steps toward the yada yada and whatever and he just fucking won Acid House Off the FUCKING WEEKK. Nice work shagger!
Ming D is a legend of the early nineties Sydney Rave scene.Either in a dirty warehouse in Sydney's south or in a Valley or Field a few hours drive from Sydney you could guarantee Ming would deliver at any Rave you were heading to. One of his most memorable gigs would have to be at the series of 'Happy Valley' parties (a party which is 20 yrs ago now) his sets so amazing i could personally blame him for the muscle damage in my legs at that time or the lack of nutrition in my diet, Juries out.
Now Happy Valley is having a reunion Friday, November 11 · 11:00pm - 11:30am at an undisclosed location. The whole Rave reunion thing has been done before and it wasn't Bad. But the fact that Ming didn't go on to sell out like so many big rave DJ's of that time kinda makes this edgy. Coupled with the fact that DJ Abel (who is also playing) who fell out of the scenes good graces for trying to run over a parking cop in his 4WD kinda makes this party deliciously irresistible.
Now to his mix, its downbeat it's twisted its quite IDM and I'm rocking out to it write now. Have a listen, if i can fault it at all it it's that a mix nearly two hours long is a lot to ask in this age of social media, but it's worth it, unlike so many hum drum mixes you hear these days that sound like it's being held together by masking tape the mixing, recording and tune selection of psychil - 38 makes this worth it.
And once again the prestigious and highly coveted award of 'Acid House of the Week' goes to 'Dj KiNK'. Well played sir, actually this is the snuff crew edit of a King Cosmic track so i think its only fair all three parties share the packet of mint slices and bottle of lemonade between them. This is big dance floor stuff and excites me threw and threw.
Ladies and Gentlemen i give you, Acid (in my soul).
Let's face it, those old Cafe Del Mar mix CD's we listened to in the mid nineties suck shit. They certainly turned me of Ambiance that's for sure. But there is no Cafe Del Mar crap here. This is an amazing journey into soundscapes the like's of which Ben Burtt (Sound designer for Star Wars) would be proud of. This deep spiritual mix is as contemporary as you will find.
Mixed by one of the rising electronic stars in Sydney today 'JP808' has put together some sublime aural treats here for sure.
So sit back, relax and slip on the headphones or get up close to the speakers and enjoy the space you are taken to.
Locussolus: Gunship (Andrew Weatherall Dub)
Rebolledo & Daniel Maloso: Loro Lady
The Touch: Sermon (Renaissance Man Remix)
DK7: The Difference (Martin Landsky Remix)
Renaissance Man: Stalker Humanoid
Matias Aguayo: Ligado
STL: Something Is Raw
Virgo 4: It's A Crime (Caribou Remix)
Matthew Herbert: Kerstin Basler
Just learning about this dude, here is some stuff he says about himself.
“Boddika is inspired by Machine Music. My influences are mainly old school electro beats from hip hop and then Detroit electro producers such as Drexciya and Aux88. But I’ve always had a keen interest in Chicago House and Detroit Techno, as well as 90's & 80's Dance and Electronica, like AFX, Autechre, Lisa Lisa Cult Jam, Prince. Pretty much everything I like inspires me; as a whole I just do what I feel like doing when I’m in the studio, and that’s where the music comes from. Working alone has been very inspiring for me.”
One of the second wave of influential Chicago house producers and a member of the vanguard of late-'90s American house producers, DJ Sneak wasn't born in the Windy City but began listening to house soon after his family arrived from Puerto Rico in the early '80s. Because he could speak no English, Sneak gravitated to instrumental music (as well as graffiti art), and became inspired by Chicago legends such as Marshall Jefferson and DJ Pierre.
This mix has everything that is great about House music, Its rich rhythms and seamless mixing has a hypnotic vibe that only Dj Sneak can create. Hailed as a legend threw-out all genres of dance, Dj Sneak drops this mix with a vibe all his own.
Thank the false prophets people are making this sound again, I guess if i wrote 'Big Love' i would be writing Acid House and telling everyone to fuck off also. Tidy work Pete all is forgiven with this little beauty.
Not sure how this got past me as this track is approximately eight months old but its here now in the coveted "Acid House of the week" award.Whom is won this week by the Funkineven remix of a Darling Farah track called 'Berline'. Your packet of Mint Slice biscuits and bottle of lemonade is in the mail. Use them wisely.
Proof not all Tech House or Minimal tunes need to sound like Vader's Theme from Empire Strikes Back. 'Andhim - Patty Sue (Superflu Sunscream's Remix)'is fun, catchy and rides a fine line of becoming cheesy but doesn't cross it. Just a fun track with an addictive groove.
Loving everything Jamie XX does at the moment and this is no different. After the XX won the Mercury Prize Jamie seems to have have stepped back and mainly been collaborating with other artists like Gil Scott Heron who pasted away recently and has been blogged here before. I do note that the big music websites are classing this track as 'House' were as up until recently this genre has been classed as 'Dubstep' or 'Electronica', regardless he is the producer of the moment and one to be watched. At least until he also sells out and produces Madonnas new album but let's hope that is a while away yet.
Just like the baby in the above photo Dj KiNK is the shit. Lately his music has just been getting more and more warmth and a real organic feel to it. What does his studio look like? I'm guessing its a little bit more than Logic and Ableton in a Laptop.
The track i am posting 'Memories From The Future' is great acid with lashings of that Disco Swag vibe. Hopefully this is sign of things to come for the future direction of Disco cause if it gets any more camp than it already is at present I'm going back to being a drill sergeant in the marines full metal jacket style.
